Pauline Whitaker, President Aileen Lewthwaite and Ruth Woodward are looking forward to the Auxiliary’s annual hospital fete on 26 November. Kempsey United Hospital Auxiliary will host its biggest fundraiser of the year on Saturday 26 November.
Auxiliary President Aileen Lewthwaite said anyone looking for the quirky, creative and curious should not miss the event, which helps raise funds for Kempsey District Hospital.
“There will be home-made, home-baked and home-grown goodies, books, plants and pre-loved clothing, craft and white elephant stalls,” Mrs Lewthwaite said.
“And with Christmas just around the corner, shoppers are guaranteed to find unique presents at bargain prices to suit anyone and everyone.”
Proceeds from the fete will help the volunteers in their quest to purchase equipment for the hospital.
Last financial year, the volunteers spent $19,730.25 on hospital equipment, including a bariatric lift chair, three vital signs monitors and a pulse oximeter.
“Our support for our local hospital really comes down to community support for our fundraisers,” Mrs Lewthwaite said.
“Kempsey is a generous community and that generosity has supported our fundraisers for more than 100 years.
“Our branch has a long history of working with Kempsey District Hospital to buy necessary medical equipment as well as the bits and pieces that help improve patient amenity.”
The fete starts at 9am on 26 November and will be held in the grounds of the old hospital – on the front verandah of the administration building, in the rotunda kiosk and on the front lawn.
The fete will be followed the next day by another fundraiser for the hospital volunteers – a Barefoot Charity Bowls Day at the RSL Bowling Club in Austral Street. The family day hosted by the Lions Club of Kempsey starts at 9am and includes a barbecue lunch. Bookings can be made by phoning the club on 6562 5073.
Mrs Lewthwaite thanked the Lions Club for its support and said she was looking forward to a successful fundraising weekend for the hospital.
